Babcock International Group, the aerospace and defence company, has been trusted to deliver bespoke, highly-skilled engineering services for over a century. With revenue of around AU$9.5 billion in 2018/19, we help customers improve the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets within our four market sectors of Marine, Land, Aviation, and Nuclear, underpinned by a deep understanding of technology integration, unique infrastructure, and specialist training.
In Australia and New Zealand, Babcock operates nationally, employing over 850 talented people. Operating across aviation, marine, oil and gas, mining and construction, cyber security, defence, communications, emergency services and engineering consultancy, we support our customers’ technical, programme and complex platform requirements through our proven processes, systems and people. In many ways, we are the brand behind the brand. You may not always see our logo, but we are behind the scenes using specialist skills and knowledge to facilitate our client’s operational requirements.
We are a current supplier of key systems on the Collins Class submarine including the Weapons Launch System and Submerged Signal Ejectors. Babcock also manages and maintains a number of additional original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) systems through a variety of commercial arrangements. We bring together engineering, design, systems integration and platform management capabilities to ensure that the complex, critical fleet of Collins Class submarines are operationally ready, and sustainable. Our engineering and maintenance facilities are located in South Australia and Western Australia.
As well as being a key current supplier to the Collins Class, we at Babcock consistently challenge the boundaries of innovation and new technology in order to maximise efficiency and reduce the overall cost of ownership. Babcock stands ready to bring innovation, new technology and experience to a future Australian nuclear propelled submarine program by utilising not only the experience in Collins but also the other design and build programs conducted all over the world. This intention will not only deliver the best capability to the program but also maximise Australian Industry Content while building an enduring sovereign capability.
