AWM Last Post Ceremony for AE1 crew member Cyril Lefroy Baker

The Last Post ceremony for Telegraphist Cyril Lefroy Baker, HMAS AE1 is scheduled for Friday 22 November 2013.
 
The Last Post ceremony is held 364 days per year in the Commemorative Area of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.  Each ceremony tells the story behind just one of the names on the Roll of Honour.

The format of the ceremony is as follows: 

  • A Memorial MC commences the ceremony with a brief introduction
  • The National Anthem is played
  • A piper plays a lament during which visitors lay wreaths at the base of the Pool of Reflection
  • A uniformed Defence member volunteer reads the personal story
  • The Defence member reads the Ode
  • A bugler plays the Last Post
  • The ceremony concludes.
