Saab Australia is one of Australia’s leading defence organisations and has been providing high-technology, operational systems to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) for more than 30 years. Building on more than 100 years’ of global submarine expertise and experience on seven submarine classes across three continents, Saab is uniquely positioned to draw on global capability within the broader submarine sector.

Saab was the designer of Australia’s Collins class Submarine, with Saab Australia delivering the Integrated Ship Control Management and Monitoring System (ISCMMS). Saab continues to provide upgrade and in-service support for the ISCMMS; one of the submarine’s most reliable and successful systems

Saab also completed the mid-life upgrade of the Collins’ sister boats, the Gotland class, and is currently building the new Swedish A26 submarine. These programs include the integration of similar systems to those selected for the Collins class Life-of-Type-Extension.

Saab added to the RAN’s Robotics and Autonomous Systems inventory with the AUV62-AT underwater Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) training target. The AUV62-AT brings evolutionary Uninhabited Underwater Vehicle capability from Saab’s global portfolio to Australia. Ultimately, increasing ASW training options and freeing up Collins class submarines from previous ASW training commitments.
